Raised by Wolves? Stories of Feral Kids You Won’t Believe Exist

John Ssebunya

In 1991, Milly Sebba, a villager in Uganda, stumbled upon a young boy living among monkeys while gathering firewood. The boy, identified as John Ssebunya, had not been seen since 1988, when he was two or three years old. His appearance was wild, with long, curved nails and knees toughened by constant kneeling.

John recounted how a group of monkeys embraced him, teaching him to survive by sharing nuts, and roots, and teaching him tree-climbing and hunting skills. By October 1999, John’s journey took a dramatic turn as he became a member of the Pearl of Africa Children’s Choir, sharing his incredible story through music in Britain.
