Joined at the posterior, the twins Rosa and Josefa Blazed learned at the young age of 13 that it would be impossible for doctors to separate them. Perhaps for that reason, they made a living as sideshow performers. They were known as ‘The Bohemian Twins’ because they were originally from Bohemia, in the modern-day Czech Republic.
‘The Bohemian Twins’ toured Europe with relative success but only became major celebrities once Rosa, one of the sisters, became pregnant! The two sisters had separate genitals, but the mysterious manner in which the child was conceived turned them into folk legends in Europe.
