The World’s Strongest Stomach / Frank ‘Cannonball’ Richards (1887 – 1969)
Born in Minneapolis, Kansas, Frank Richards was a man with a stomach made of steel. His circus act revolved around his ability to take a hit in his stomach from the very start. He was famously punched 75 times in the gut by the late professional boxer Jack Dempsey. Before earning the nickname ‘Cannonball,’ he also performed by getting hit in the belly with a sledgehammer and letting people jump on top of it.
When he realized his stomach was incredibly strong, he decided to get hit by a cannonball weighing more than 100 pounds to entertain the crowd. Richards passed away at the age of 81.
