No Limbs, No Problem / Frank ‘The Human Caterpillar’ (1871 – 1934)

Born in British Guiana, Prince Randian moved to the United States at 18 years of age and started performing for the Barnum & Bailey Circus. Because he suffered from tetra-amelia syndrome, he had no limbs. He was nonetheless talented and could roll a cigarette using nothing but his lips.

After becoming a circus act, Randian was renamed Frank and was given the title of ‘The Human Caterpillar.’ ‘Pillow Man’ and ‘The Human Torso’ were just two of his other nicknames. He’s one of the many classic circus acts from the United States featured in the 1932 movie “Freaks,” a horror drama directed by Tod Browning.
