Unbelievable Boomer Kid Activities That Would Never Happen Today
Too Many Soda Tab Injuries

Soda tab injuries were an unexpected hazard for Boomer kids, thanks to the old pull-tab design on soda cans. Popular in the 1960s and 1970s, these tabs were notorious for causing cuts and scrapes when kids eagerly yanked them off to enjoy their fizzy drinks. The issue was widespread because canned sodas were a staple at picnics, parties, and after-school hangouts.
However, as the number of injuries grew and environmental concerns arose over discarded tabs, manufacturers switched to the stay-on tab design in the late 1970s. Today, while soda cans are safer and more eco-friendly, those sharp pull-tabs remain a quirky memory of Boomer-era refreshment.
