Raised by Wolves? Stories of Feral Kids You Won’t Believe Exist
The Syrian Gazelle Boy

The story of the Syrian Gazelle Boy stands out for its uniqueness. Discovered by anthropologist Jean-Claude Auger in the Spanish Sahara’s Rio de Oro in 1960, this wild child was seen living freely with a herd of white gazelles. Unlike other feral children’s stories, he was never integrated into human society.
Jean-Claude learned of him through Nemadi nomads and observed the boy galloping with gazelles, sometimes walking on all fours; other times upright. He even mimicked gazelle habits, like twitching at sounds and eating roots. Efforts to bring him into human life in 1966 failed, leaving his story in the mystery of the desert.
