Raised by Wolves? Stories of Feral Kids You Won’t Believe Exist

Genie

Unlike the tales of other feral children, Genie’s story unfolds within the walls of her own home. Bound in a handmade straitjacket and tied to a chair for over a decade by her father, Genie grew up confined, deprived of speech and human contact. Discovered at 13 in 1970, her escape with her mother to child services began a challenging journey.

Despite her progress in communication and social skills, Genie’s life remained tumultuous, marred by shifts through foster homes, where she faced adversity. Funding for her care ceased in 1974, leading to a regression into silence. Today, Genie resides in a facility dedicated to adults with disabilities.
