Raised by Wolves? Stories of Feral Kids You Won’t Believe Exist
Dina Sanichar

Dina Sanichar, often believed to be the inspiration behind “The Jungle Book,” was discovered by hunters in the Indian wilderness in 1867, having lived his early years among wolves. This boy, six at the time, exhibited no signs of human interaction; his life with wolves taught him to walk on all fours and communicate through animal sounds.
Brought to civilization and placed in an orphanage, Dina’s wolf-like behaviors persisted, from sniffing his food before eating to maintaining a preference for solitude. Although he managed to adapt slightly—learning to eat from a plate—he retained his wild instincts, even developing a fondness for smoking. Tragically, his journey ended at 35.
