Like Father, Like Son / Lobster Boy (1866 – ?)

Ectrodactyly is a genetically-inherited condition characterized by the absence or malformation of fingers and toes. The sideshow act ‘Lobster Boy’ suffered from the disease, which was named after the Latin expression for “monstrous fingers.” Reportedly, it was a family trait that had been passed from parents to children for about 300 years.

The real name of the ‘Lobster Boy’ was Fred Wilson. Even though he was quite a popular act, not much about his life was documented. His history remains a mystery today, albeit it’s safe to assume he’s already passed away (otherwise, he would be over 150 years old).
