Armless Superstar / The Living Venus de Milo (1914 – 1982)
Performing under the names of ‘The Living Venus de Milo’ and ‘The Armless Wonder,’ Frances O’Connor was a sideshow performer known for her ability to do almost everything with her feet. She was gracious and charming as well. Featured in the movie “Freaks,” she was born without arms in Granite Falls, Minnesota.
Her act consisted of doing things like eating, drinking, smoking, and even knitting using nothing but her feet. After charming many audiences with the help of her mother (who was her agent), O’Connor passed away at the age of 67 in Long Beach, California, years after leaving show business.
