Maybrit Illner and the German screenwriter Michael Illner married in 1988. 19 years later, however, the marriage broke up and they both went their separate ways. Maybrit Illner met manager René Obermann in one of her shows and what started out as a professional relationship developed into more than expected. Illner then separated from the crime screenwriter Michael and René also ended his relationship at the time. In 2010, Maybrit and René married. Obermann has been the head of the Airbus SE board of directors since 2020 and neither of them have any children so far.
