Breathing Easier In The Skies

Airplanes have a little hole by the windows called a breather hole. As the plane goes higher in altitude, the pressure of the air outside falls but cabin pressure remains stable. The hole lets the airplane’s outer two panes accommodate the difference in pressure. If the outer pane was to become damaged, the breather would allow a little air to leak in. This is highly uncommon, however, and an airplane, which usually flies at 500 knots, would continue to function normally, and the pressure wouldn’t be a problem. This is the same for commercial as well as private planes.
