George Pell – Ballarat, Australia – Born In 1941

Although George Pell is a priest, he wasn’t always that. In his early years, Pell played football, but he traded his football ambitions for the priesthood due to his conviction to work for God. Well, he didn’t completely give up the sport, as he continued playing while he attended Corpus Christi College.

In 1966, Pell got ordained as a priest, which was just the beginning of his official role in the church. He was the eighth Archbishop of Sydney and the Prefect of the Secretariat for the Economy between 2014 and 2019. This cleric is also an author and public speaker, and although retired, he remains a voice in the world concerning issues in the church and society.
