These Soap Opera Stars Rocked on Telly – Where are They Now?
John Altman: 69, EastEnders
In 1985, the soap opera EastEnders brought John Altman aboard to play the antagonist role of Nick Cotton on the show. Ultimately Nick was perceived as the worst character on screen, and while that earned Altman wide recognition, it also brought in a rather unsavory reputation.
John took a five-year break from the show but returned in 2014 before showrunners would write his character off the following year. Since then, John has taken on a few other projects to play guest roles on TV, stage, and movies. In 2010, the TV veteran even debuted as the frontman of the British rock band Heavy Metal Kids.
