These Photos are Proof of How Powerful and Unpredictable Genetics Can Be
Hutchinson-Gilford Syndrome

Aging is an inevitability of life, no matter how afraid most people are to embrace it. However, they don’t know that there is a genetic disorder known as Hutchinson-Gilford Syndrome or Neonatal Progeria that causes rapid aging in infants. It affects their bodies to the point that, after two years, they look completely aged.
The condition is severe in that one copy of an altered gene in every body cell is enough to cause the disorder; hence, it occurs even in people with no family history. Its effects include dementia, arthritis, and sometimes death at a very young age for affected infants.
