Dark Skin Patches from Congenital Melanocytic Nevus

Skin disorders are mostly formed due to lacking enough melanin to produce adequate hair, skin, and eye pigmentation. While we have extensively looked at vitiligo, congenital melanocytic nevus is the opposite, causing black or brown patches on the skin rather than light ones.
The disorder can be identified at birth when moles appear in the skin in the first few weeks. The spots can grow larger over time and must be looked at by a professional, as they pose a risk of contracting cancer. However, most of the time, the disorder is harmless, and people with it enjoy a beautiful and unique look.
