These Photos are Proof of How Powerful and Unpredictable Genetics Can Be

We are all different in many ways, some of which we have no control over. These include genetics, which we receive at conception and determine our appearance and general attributes. Although genetic modification is externally possible, there is often nothing we can do to alter genetic disorders.

Genetic disorders occur when a mutation affects genes or when one has the wrong amount of genetic material. This explains why some individuals have distinct sets of genes that make them stand out from others. In that regard, here are some stunning genetic abnormalities that highlight the surprising nature of human genes and are sure to be appreciated.

Poliosis in the Family

We have all probably heard of poliomyelitis, but the term poliosis may be new to our ears, and it has an entirely different meaning. Also known as poliosis circumscripta, it is a genetic mutation resulting in a distinctive white streak in the hair, usually of a different, darker color.

This disorder can affect hair in any part of the body, including eyelashes and eyebrows. As for this mother, poliosis caused a white streak of hair in her hair, and the genes were passed on to her baby. Luckily, it is not harmful in any way, and we just have to admire how unique and beautiful it is.
