Gladys Knight’s son, Shanga Hankerson was faced with a serious situation 3 years ago. In the summer of 2016, authorities burst into three of Gladys Knight’s Chicken & Waffle restaurants and closed them down. The next day, Hankerson, went to the police station with every intention of cooperating with the authorities. However, he was charged with tax evasion and was placed in the Clayton County Jail in Georgia. He was released on bond but although he was set free, his troubles weren’t over. His relationship with his mother was pretty tense after he admitted to stealing from the company. As a result, Gladys wanted to remove her name from the restaurant’s franchise.
