No one should be deceived by the name or the harmless looks of this sea urchin. While they might look like a flower, they’re highly dangerous. This is because when they inject their venom, they cause incredible pain but also numbness, loss of consciousness, and muscle relaxation.
The real problem with the symptoms caused by sea urchin envenomation is that the contact often takes place with fishermen or divers. Therefore, muscle relaxation and unconsciousness while swimming might lead to drowning by accident. Interestingly, this venom is mainly a defense mechanism and not a way for them to get their food.
