Indian Red Scorpion
This small but deadly animal usually lives in the regions of Pakistan, India, and Sri Lanka. Its presence in the latter area was only discovered during the past decade. Regular antivenin doesn’t work very well when someone has been stung by the Indian red scorpion. Instead, drugs like prazosin have a better effect.
The mortality rate is fairly high, with up to 40% of the people stung dying shortly after. Unfortunately, children are the most vulnerable to these scorpions and their venomous effects. Therefore, it’s important to bring them to a doctor immediately so that they can receive the attention they need to recover.
