This is by far the most feared snake in Africa. The high toxicity of its venom leads to a high mortality rate for those who get bitten and don’t receive the antivenin. The black mamba loves to prey on small mammals. However, when cornered, it will attack humans as well.
The snake usually bites several times in quick succession. Therefore, a victim will usually have multiple puncture wounds. However, something a specialized doctor might notice is that there’s no swelling at those puncture wounds. The venom acts at a neurotoxic level, causing symptoms after 10 minutes of the bite.
