When you first take a look at a southern short-tailed shrew, you might think it’s harmless and just another “rat” that will leave you unbothered. Looks can be deceiving because this animal has deadly venom. It’s teeth bites into its prey, and then that’s when the venomous saliva ends the prey’s life.

Mostly mice suffer from the deadly venom, and sources say it can’t kill a human. Nonetheless, a person will still experience severe pain when a short-tailed shrew bites them. This particular type of animal is usually found in the southeastern part of the United States.
