This might look like the cutest and fluffiest living thing that anyone’s ever seen, but the truth is, it’s a caterpillar. The Southern Flannel Moth is quite interesting because of its distinct ability to cause excruciating pain on anyone that touches its furry coat when in the larval state.
To be completely honest, why would anyone want to touch a caterpillar, to begin with? In any case, touching one can cause pain similar to breaking a bone. The victims are best to be treated within a matter of hours. Bottom line, next time we see a hairy moth or caterpillar, we’d better stay away from it.
