Persistent Pupillary Membrane on the Iris

The eyes are one of the most affected parts of the body by genetic disorders. This picture shows yet another condition known as the persistent pupillary membrane. It is caused by the disappearance of various parts of the iris, and the remnants appear like strands of connective tissue bridging the pupillary area.

This close-up image of the condition shows how unique it is. And while it can occur in one or both eyes, it does not affect vision as the brain can filter out images and make them clearer. Not to mention that it adds to the aesthetic appearance of the face.
