Anonychia and the Lack of Fingernails and Toenails

Every part of our bodies seems to be important, as they all work together to make life easier. For instance, fingernails come in handy to prevent viruses and bacteria from entering the body and enhance our ability to scratch and separate. While we can hardly imagine a life without them, there are people who are born and live without them.
People who are born without fingernails suffer from a condition known as anonychia congenita, which affects the way tissues and cells develop. We can’t imagine what people without toenails go through when their toes are stubbed without protection of nails.
