Passport to Laughter: These Hilarious Airport Pics Are Worth the Layover
Humboldt Penguins en Route to Safe Haven
These two Humboldt penguins captured waddling through an airport have to be the cutest thing on this list. These special passengers were rescued by animal preservationists and destined for a refuge island near Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Humboldt penguins are unique to the coastal regions of Peru and Chile, not the icy realms typically associated with their species.
Sadly, they’re endangered, and their numbers are dwindling due to overfishing, habitat loss, and climate change affecting their food sources. Seeing these penguins in an airport, far from their natural habitat, is a poignant reminder of the efforts we make to ensure the protection of endangered species.
