Navy Office Comes Home From Deployment Only To Find A Shocking Scene At the Port
Staying The Course
As time went on and the family communicated with Chris, Natasha started having serious doubts about her decision. After every call, she’d wonder if she had made the right decision, and maybe Chris deserved to be informed on what was going on back home.
On the other hand, the man was at work, so any sudden news might hamper his productivity and put his job in jeopardy. That’s something no one would want, and so our good lady decided to soldier on and keep her exciting information to herself. Moreover, Natasha figures it was pointless to let Chris know as he was too far to act anyway.
Bon Voyage
Chris Daugherty was your usual navy officer who was regularly shipped off to various parts of the world to fight for his country. In January 2016, he was up for routine deployment but this time it would be a lot longer than usual. The man was scheduled to be away from his family for at least five months.

That is a big deal considering he had a wife and kids at home, mainly depending on his presence. It was going to be a tough transition and the whole family was bracing for the rough ride. Unbeknownst to them all, the deployment wasn’t the only curve ball in store.
Cracking Codes
After a tearful goodbye, Chris boarded the USS Vinson in January 2016 and they began their journey to the Korean Peninsula. In case you were wondering, Chris was a cryptologic technician which is a crucial role in the military. His work involves tapping into enemy radio traffic and deciphering their secret messages.

Surprisingly, our man’s skills seemed to stop and end when he was on duty because the fellow didn’t apply them on his family. Maybe if he had been on guard he could have noticed sooner than later that his wife was doing everything in her power to hide a monumental secret from him.
Solo Dolo
While Chris was busy cracking codes in the middle of nowhere, Natasha Daugherty was trying to crack the current situation she was in. Chris’s deployment was going to be longer than usual so she had to make plans on how she’d manage without him.

A week after Chris had left, Natasha couldn’t help but feel some way about her husband’s absence. She loved the man after all, and his presence made everything easier. It was during this nostalgic phase that our good lady started dealing with some new developments in her family. These changes made Natasha miss Chris even more.
A Lot To Handle
When Chris got deployed, Natasha was left with three kids to look after and a home to take care of. That probably sounds like a lot of work for one person, so you can imagine the pressure our girl was under. Luckily, her eldest son was aware of what was happening to Natasha, and he did his best to help her out.

Sadly, as much as Natasha wanted to keep her new developments under wraps, her four-year-old daughter was daddy’s little angel, and there was no way she’d keep a secret from her dad. To make matters worse, they spoke to Chris regularly, so her plan was shaky.

How I Met Your Mother
Chris and Natasha had known each other for quite some time before settling down together. The couple met when Natasha was employed as an IT systems technician with the navy. This common job made them compatible, and it wasn’t long before the couple hit it off. In 2011 they tied the knot, and everything else is history.

Understandably, after three kids and over a decade under their belt, Chris and Natasha were close, and they barely hid secrets from each other. That’s why Natasha was having a hard time keeping this secret. At some point, the lady was so guilt-ridden she almost spilled the beans.
Tempted To Talk
One day, Natasha was so overwhelmed with guilt and confusion she decided to bite the bullet and let her husband know what was happening. She quickly emailed Chris and told him to call her back as soon as possible.

Chris did as he was instructed, but by then, Natasha was back to her senses, and she just told him he wanted to hear her voice. It turns out Natasha had a change of heart in the nick of time. She realized she didn’t want to give Chris the news via email or on the phone. Nevertheless, Natasha still had to deal with friends and relatives.
Things Get Complicated
Natasha had to figure out a way to ensure all their friends and relatives who met with her regularly were in the loop and didn’t accidentally ruin the plan. As the lady figured this out, Chris was facing some adventures of his own.

North Korea had begun regular testing of ballistic missiles, which had the international community on their toes. These tests were carried out close to where Chris was stationed, and despite the brewing storm back home, Chris had bigger fish to fry. So it seems Natasha’s decision to hold back the information was a good idea.
Whatever It Takes
Back home, Natasha was having a tough time navigating the household and managing two jobs simultaneously. We are surprised the lady didn’t cave and kept to her wits with three kids to handle. Had it been some of us, we’d have cracked by the second day.

Luckily, Natasha was more sensible than us, and she knew what she was striving for was crucial. So there was no way she’d let her husband down. On the other hand, it was only a few weeks until Chris’s time offshore was up, and the whole ordeal would be put to bed.
It Never Rains
Five months rolled by sooner than later, and Natasha was ready to welcome her man into her loving arms. It had been a long ride, but the end was in sight. Chris would finally be home, and she could come clean on the happenings around her, or so she thought.

Despite the timeframe elapsing, Chris informed his family that he’d be deployed for an extra month due to the situation at his station. It was a challenging moment for Natasha as she was faced with two decisions, either let the cat out of the bag or keep going. As resilient as she is, it wasn’t surprising she chose the latter.
