While the idea of visiting an island is an alluring one, the visit to ‘Isla de las Muñecas’ is straight out of a nightmare! As per the stories, a young girl passed away by drowning, and the caretaker could not save her in time – Wracked with guilt, he became obsessed with dolls!
Situated in the Xochimilco neighborhood of Mexico City, the place now sports innumerable raggedy dolls, with some even decapitated or with their eyes or limbs missing. The forlorn and grieving caretaker also later mysteriously died at the same spot as the girl.
