You wouldn’t want to take a dip in Tanzania’s ‘Lake Natron,’ that’s for sure! After all, this lake’s water temperature can reach scalding levels besides being so caustic that it could burn your skin!
The high mineral and salt concentrations have given the lake its rusty color and also kept animals that have passed out in these waters mummified. How? Well, not even bacteria can stand a chance in Lake Natron’s harsh conditions, with its high levels of sodium bicarbonate also acting as a preservative. Nature can get scary sometimes, right?
