Kawah Ijen Volcano – Java, Indonesia
This mountain complex spans about 12 miles long and makes for one of the world’s most dangerous spots. The volcano is still active and spews lava and various harmful gases as high as 16 feet in the air, and you wouldn’t want to be around in the event of an eruption.
The Kawah Ijen volcano is of those terrifying but beautiful sights, especially given that its flames burn blue at night and the lava creates glowing streams of fire that are quite scenic. It’s a marvelous sight but don’t go too close, it might be your last mistake.
