Dennis watched as car after car sped by, ignoring the girl. Normally, he would do the same, but something felt off about leaving her stranded. He signaled and parked nearby. “Can I help you?” he asked as she approached cautiously, eyeing the backseat before stepping closer. Clever girl, he thought.
She explained she needed a ride home. “I need to get home,” she said, relief washing over her face when Dennis mentioned he lived in the same city. Offering her a ride seemed like the right thing to do, so that’s just exactly what he did. He felt good about his decision.
