When she invented the shrill fictional character “Cindy from Marzahn” in 2000, Ilka Bessin could not have foreseen how much success her appearance in a bright pink jogging suit and extreme make-up would one day bring her. The stand-up comedian made crowds laugh in the role of the cheeky Berliner type, toured numerous stages and appeared on television.
After 16 years, Ilka Bessin’s role as the chubby woman from Marzahn was finally over. The 50-year-old wanted to grow as an artist and break new ground, finally showing her own self. She lost a lot of weight and today she looks absolutely gorgeous. In the meantime, Bessin runs a kiosk in the heart of Cologne for her new RTL show “echt now?!”.
