The winner of the 2nd season of American Idol, Ruben Studdard, was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, so that’s why he decided to live a healthier lifestyle. He started to do regular exercise and to go through strict diets. He was able to drop 119 pounds without the help of gastric sleeve surgery or other cosmetic procedures.
Ruben has kept himself busy throughout the years, with continuing appearances on American Idol, a smattering of TV roles, appearances on Broadway and many tours. Still, 2019 was a relatively quiet year, with no big projects for him. Let’s hope he gets back to the studio in 2020!
