One of the Hollywood’s Golden Ages’ biggest and best stars was ‘The Duke’ John Wayne. The Academy Award Winning Actor, well-known for his Cowboy style, owned a gorgeous vintage 1975 Pontiac Grand Safari Wagon, customized by Barris Kustoms himself.
According to legend, the Pontiac’s roof was raised so that The Duke can fir in it with his cowboy hat on. John Wayne loved riding this piece of art around. He died in 1979 while the car was auctioned in 2010 for a reported sum of $67.5K. Certainly not a high price for today’s celebrity standards, but it was quite the spectacle back in the day.
