Motorsport legend Richard Petty is selling a part of his extensive collection of cars and trophies. As ESPN reports, Petty says there’s a great load of “stuff” he’s accumulated over the years without a place to show it; his museum only fits a certain amount of memorabilia, so some of it has to go.
The biggest deal is the cars, as expected. Petty’s 1974 Charger racer, legendary for 31 race wins, is going under the hammer. His No. 43 1974 Dodge Charger, considered one of the most historically important vehicles in NASCAR history, sold for $490,000 on Saturday at Julien’s Auctions. Absentee and Internet live bidding was available through LiveAuctioneers.
