James J. Lydon appeared in many movies as a teen during the ’30s. His acting career started out of necessity, as his father quit his job leaving the family without an income. He quickly learned the ropes and became a star on Broadway, in films and on television. This move meant that he never had to worry about an empty bank account again. Lydon also ventured into backstage work, as he co-created M*A*S*H with Gene Reynolds.
