At 106 years old, Mary Ward is officially the oldest living actress in Australia. She retired from acting in 2000, after a career that went on for 60 years. She also became the first female broadcaster to appear on ABC, one of Australia’s leading broadcasting companies.
Besides that, she was also a stage actress who starred in many recorded plays. In her later years she was renowned for playing older female characters, most notably as Mum in the cult show Prisoner, and in another soap opera called Sons and Daughters playing a character called Dee Morrell.
