After graduating college, Kate Norley joined the US Army as a combat medic. She served in Iraq for 16 months during the Iraq War, witnessing the horrors of war firsthand. Norley suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression after returning from Iraq, which led her to seek therapy and eventually inspired her to pursue a career in mental health advocacy.
